Youth Groups:
Youth Leadership:
Program Description: The Youth Leadership program is designed to engage and empower newcomer youth, ages 13-24, by matching them with resident Canadian peers. During the 5 month program, the group meets on a weekly basis. The objective of the program is to familiarize newcomers with history – both Canadian and that off the Windsor and Essex Region, help them develop leadership skills, and through building friendships help them integrate comfortably into the community. In addition, youth receive community hours for participation.
Eligibility: For Resident Newcomers and Canadian Citizens between the ages of 13 and 24.
Location & Time: MCC EE Office; Tuesdays; 4pm – 5:30pm.

Circle of Friends:
Program Description: Circle of Friends is a social and educational program designed for youth. The program aims to create an environment where youth can build friendships, learn about different cultures, participate in many fun activities and field trips and volunteer in the community. In addition, youth receive community hours for participation.
Eligibility: For Resident Newcomers and Canadian Citizens between the ages of 13 and 24.
Location & Time: MCC EE Office; Thursdays; 4pm – 5:30pm.

Youth Act:

During the 5 month program, the group meets on a weekly basis. Student Ambassador Club (SAC in schools):
Program Description: SAC in schools, is designed to assist children and youth with their integration into the Canadian school system. The purpose of this program is to benefit students, and to foster deeper cultural understanding and leadership skills. Multiculturalism, friendship, tolerance, understanding, self-confidence, and leadership are the cornerstones of the SAC program.
Eligibility: For Resident Newcomers and Canadian Citizen children, between the ages of 6 and 13.

Summer Student Ambassador Club (Summer SAC):
Program Description: Summer SAC, is educational and cultural camp in the summer months that assists children and youth with their integration into Canadian culture and education. The purpose of this program is to benefit children and youth in the community, and to foster deeper cultural understanding and leadership skills. Multiculturalism, friendship, tolerance, understanding, self-confidence, and leadership are the cornerstones of the SAC program.
Eligibility: For Resident Newcomers and Canadian Citizen children, between the ages of 6 and 13.

Interact Club:
Program Description: The Interact Club is a service club for young people ages 12 to 18, in partnership with Rotary International. Interact Clubs are self-governing and self-supporting. Each year, Interact clubs complete at least two community service projects, one of which furthers international understanding and goodwill. Through these efforts, Interactor’s develop a network of friendships with local and overseas clubs and learn the importance of: developing leadership skills and personal integrity, demonstrating helpfulness and respect for others, understanding the value of individual responsibility and hard work and advancing international understanding and goodwill. In addition, youth receive their community hours for participation.
Eligibility: For Resident Newcomers and Canadian Citizens between the ages of 12 and 18.

Men’s Group:
Program Description: Social group for men and their children.
Eligibility: For Resident Newcomers and Canadian Citizen men only; over 18 years of age and their children below 13 years of age.

Program Description: Social group for women and their children.
Eligibility: For Resident Newcomers and Canadian Citizen women only; over 18 years of age and their children below 13 years of age.

Senior’s Group:
Program Description: Social group and computer classes for Seniors.
Eligibility: For Resident Newcomers and Canadian Citizens, ages 50 and up.

Internationally Trained Professionals Group:
Program Description: A group that provides networking and mentorship opportunities for individuals who have been trained in a certain profession overseas (teachers, engineers, doctors, trades people, etc.).
Eligibility: For Resident Newcomers and Canadian Citizens; over the age of 18
Location & Time: MCC EE Office; Wednesdays, 2:30pm-3:30pm and again 4:30pm-5:30pm.
