Enhanced Language Training (ELT)

The Enhanced Language Training (ELT) for Professionals in Customer Service is designed to provide participants with the enhanced language training skills and bridge to work services that will prepare immigrants with the required qualifications to find and retain work in the areas of Customer Service & retail sales.

Funding

Enhanced Language Training (ELT) Program is funded by the Department of Citizenship and Immigration Canada.

The Program

The ELT program is a FREE 16 week training program.

The 8 Week in-class component will assist with:

  • Developing occupation-specific language and industry- terminology
  • Use of PC´s with MS Office & Internet
  • Electronic resume formats, cold calling, networking and interviews.
  • Workplace communication and cultural practices including business writing, e- communication, oral reporting and meeting procedures and practices.
  • Gain knowledge of job search techniques and more!

With 8 - Week Job Placement

  • Gain Canadian Experience.
  • Build professional networks.
  • Obtain Canadian references.
  • Meet new people.

Eligibility

To qualify for this program, you must be:

  • 17 years and over.
  • must be a landed immigrant or a conventional refugee.
  • Assessed at CLBA Level 7 or higher.

The Language Assessment and Resource Centre located at 1410 Ouellette Avenue, Windsor, must assess clients that are interested in attending the ELT program. Interested clients should call the Centre at 519-253-2724 to request an appointment. All clients must bring their immigration papers and social insurance card to their appointment for identification. Once assessed at Level 7 the client may attend the ELT program.

The office is open 9:00 a.m. to - 5:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday and Friday 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Class Start Dates:

  • Session 1: April 1, 2008 (Registration begins March 19, 2008)
  • Session 2: July 28, 2008 (Registration begins June 23, 2008)
  • Session 3: November 24, 2008 (Registration begins October 20, 2008)
