Job Search Workshop

The Job Search Workshop Program is a series of workshops that are geared to assist and provide newcomers with information regarding all aspects of job search in order to assist with their integration into the workforce.

Funding

Job Search Workshop(JSW) program is funded by the Department of Citizenship and Immigration Canada.

The Program

The JSW is a series of workshops to assist and provide clients with:

  • An understanding of the Canadian labour Market
  • An effective resumé with which to market themselves to employers.
  • An understanding of the different types of correspondence and their importance.
  • Effective techniques for contacting employers.
  • Sources of job leads.
  • Overview of the culture of the Canadian workplace, workers rights and employment standards.
  • Successful interview techniques.
  • Use of internet for research and job searching.

Eligibility

Permanent Residents, Convention Refugee, on a special Minister´s Permit or possess an eligibility letter for Permanent Residence from CIC.

Sessions/Models:

There are 3 models that could possibly be run based on need; they are:

  • Model A: Daytime Session - 3 consecutive days from 9am - 4pm
  • Model B: Evening Session - 2 evenings/wk for 2 consecutive weeks from 5pm-9pm
  • Model C: Weekend Session - 4 consecutive Saturdays from 10am - 4pm
