Carrousel of the Nations recognized as Top 100 for third consecutive year
Windsor, ON — The Multicultural Council of Windsor and Essex County (MCC) today announced that its annual summer festival — Carrousel of the Nations — has, for the third consecutive year, been named one of Ontario’s Top 100 festivals by Festival and Events Ontario (FEO).
The Carrousel of the Nations dominates the last three weekends in June, and is the area’s only regional multicultural festival. In 2010, Carrousel will celebrate its 35th Anniversary and expects to attract well over 300,000 attendees.
“FEO recognizes the significance, impact and relevance of the Carrousel of the Nations,” said Chris Ryan, CEO, Tourism Windsor Essex Pelee Island. “A mainstay in the calendar of festivals and events in our region, Carrousel offers visitors a festive atmosphere and the very best of world cuisine, music, art, and dance right in the heart of our city,” he added.
“Carrousel of the Nations highlights the cultural landscape of our region,” said Kathleen Thomas, Executive Director, Multicultural Council of Windsor and Essex County. “We pride ourselves on offering the best and most unique universal experiences, and congratulate all our partners who have contributed so greatly to these achievements."
This year’s theme, A World of Culture, is a fundamental objective of the event itself. Through the Carrousel of the Nations, the Multicultural Council of Windsor and Essex County strives to promote understanding and appreciation by way of ethno-cultural sharing, awareness and experiences.
