(Windsor, ON) – The Multicultural Council of Windsor and Essex County is pleased to announce this year’s recipients of The Herb Gray Harmony Award and The Champion Award.

The Herb Gray Harmony Award
John Morris Russell
Windsor Symphony Orchestra

WSO’s Music Director John Morris Russell is a dedicated and enthusiastic supporter of a harmonious society. Through the universal language of music Maestro Russell acts as an ambassador between cultures. The Herb Gray Harmony Award pays tribute to John Morris Russell for his perseverance to develop a diverse selection of concert programs celebrating and promoting the spirit of multiculturalism.

The Champion Award
Marwan Taqtaq

The Champion Award celebrates the significant contributions first generation Canadians make to our community. This year the Award honours an outstanding citizen Marwan Taqtaq for his dedication and support to our community.

As a young immigrant, he began his career as a pharmacist in Windsor, marrying and raising his family here. Mr. Taqtaq’s charitable work and generous donations to many sectors of our community from Hospice to the Cancer Clinic and the former Cleary International Centre are just a few of the organizations he’s supported.

The Herb Gray Harmony Award Gala Dinner is on Thursday, April 29th at the Ciociaro Club. Tickets are $75 each and can be purchased at 245 Janette Ave. or call 255-1127. Corporate tables and sponsorship opportunities are available.
