JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION: Human Resource Manager
REPORTS TO: Director of Finance and Administrative Services
HOURS: 40 hours/week
COMPENSATION: $ 85,000 annually plus a Comprehensive Benefits Plan
POSITION SUMMARY
In support of the mission and vision of the Multicultural Council of Windsor & Essex County (MCC), the Human Resources Manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating core human resources functions across the organization. This role supports recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, HR administration, compliance, and organizational development.
The Human Resources Manager works closely with the Director of Finance and Administrative Services and department leaders to ensure HR practices align with organizational priorities, legislative requirements, and best practices. The Human Resource Manager serves as a key point of contact for employees and management on HR-related matters, contributing to a positive, inclusive, and compliant workplace culture.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field, with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
- Human Resources designation (C.H.R.P.) is considered an asset.
- Proven experience in HR roles with a focus on recruitment, employee relations, and HR administration.
- Strong knowledge of employment legislation, HR policies, and best practices.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
- High level of discretion and ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments
- Valid Level 2 Police Clearance, renewed every three years.
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Recruitment and Onboarding
- Collaborate with managers to support effective recruitment and workforce planning.
- Assist with sourcing, screening, interviewing, and selection of candidates.
- Coordinate onboarding processes, including orientation, documentation, and policy review.
- Ensure a positive and consistent onboarding experience for new employees.
Employee Relations
- Serve as a resource to employees and managers on HR policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Address employee concerns in a timely, professional, and confidential manner.
- Support performance management processes and provide guidance on employee development.
- Conduct or support investigations into employee complaints or workplace concerns as required.
HR Administration
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, personnel files, and HR databases.
- Prepare and distribute HR documentation, including employment contracts, evaluations, and disciplinary correspondence.
- Assist with benefits administration and employee inquiries related to benefits.
- Provide back-up support for payroll processing, as required.
- Oversee workplace injury claims, including WSIB reporting, investigations, and required documentation.
- Manage employee attendance, absenteeism tracking, and reporting.
Compliance and Policy
- Ensure adherence to MCC HR policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable employment laws and regulations.
- Monitor legislative changes and recommend updates to policies and practices as needed.
- Support a safe, inclusive, and respectful workplace in accordance with Occupational Health and Safety legislation and MCC values.
