POSITION: Language, Orientation and Welcoming Communities (LOW)
REPORTS TO: Orientation and Community Connections Coordinator
HOURS: 40 hours/week
COMPENSATION: $33.11/per hour plus a Comprehensive Benefits Plan
POSITION SUMMARY
In support of the mission and vision of the Multicultural Council of Windsor & Essex County (MCC), the Orientation and Community Connections Supervisor is responsible for supporting the development, implementation, evaluation, and day-to-day management of the Language, Orientation and Welcoming Communities (LOW) programs.
The Supervisor works closely with the LOW Manager, Human Resources, and program staff to ensure effective service delivery, strong team performance, and compliance with funder requirements. This role provides direct supervision, leadership, and operational oversight, while fostering a positive, inclusive, and high-performing workplace culture aligned with MCC’s organizational priorities.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Post-secondary diploma and/or degree in a related field of study (e.g. Human Services, Education, Social Work, Communications) or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience working with diverse populations.
- Experience working within Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) funded programs is required.
- Experience with databases such as iCARE, HARTs, and/or OCMS is considered an asset.
- Strong administrative, planning, facilitation, skills
- Experience with staff supervision, including recruitment, scheduling, performance management, and disciplinary processes.
- Financial acumen, including experience with budget monitoring, forecasting, and reporting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and across departments.
- Valid Level 3 Vulnerable Sector Police Clearance, renewed every three years.
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Program Operations and Service Delivery
- Assist in overseeing the day-to-day operations of Orientation and Community Connections programs, including front desk reception at the East End site.
- Ensure programs are delivered effectively and meet established targets, outcomes, and service standards.
- Provide frontline service delivery support as required based on operational needs, including coverage for absences, vacations, or high client demand.
- Monitor service delivery through internal data systems to ensure accurate tracking, reporting, and continuous improvement.
- Staff Supervision and Leadership
- Provide direct supervision, guidance, and leadership to Orientation Specialists, Orientation Case Manager, Community Connections Facilitators, and reception staff.
- Develop and manage staff schedules to ensure appropriate program coverage and operational efficiency.
- Review and approve staff timesheets, leave requests, and expense submissions in accordance with MCC policies.
- Collaborate with Human Resources on recruitment, including job postings, screening, interviewing, and hiring of staff.
- Support onboarding and training of new employees, including organizational and program orientation and 30-60-90 day reviews.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and support to staff.
- Identify training needs and coordinate professional development opportunities to enhance staff capacity and service quality.
- Monitor individual and team performance against program targets, service standards, and key performance indicators, implementing strategies to address gaps.
- Address performance concerns through progressive discipline, in collaboration with Human Resources, including documentation and follow-up.
- Foster a positive, respectful, and inclusive team environment by promoting collaboration, addressing conflict, and supporting staff well-being.
Administration and Reporting
- Support the preparation of internal and funder reports, including statistical and narrative reporting.
- Oversee staff administrative functions such as timesheets, expense reports, and program documentation.

- Monitor program budgets, including tracking expenditures and supporting forecasting activities.
- Participate in proposal development and responses to Calls for Proposals (CFPs).
Partnerships and Community Engagement
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with IRCC settlement officers, funders, and community stakeholders.
- Identify and pursue partnership opportunities to enhance program delivery and client outcomes.
- Represent MCC at community meetings, outreach activities, and events.
Program Quality, Compliance, and Health & Safety
- Ensure compliance with MCC policies, funder requirements, and all applicable legislation.
- Monitor program quality through internal assessments, evaluations, and continuous improvement practices.
- Ensure staff adherence to health and safety policies, procedures, and legislation.
- Report, document, and follow up on workplace incidents in accordance with organizational protocols.
Leadership and Organizational Support
- Facilitate regular team meetings to review program performance, discuss challenges, and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Assist in reviewing and improving operational processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Promote MCC’s mission, vision, and values internally and externally.
- Act as designate for the LOW Manager, providing leadership and decision-making support in their absence.
